Terms of Service
1. Purpose
These Terms govern the relationship between Arasaco ("the Company", "we") and users of Buddy Run (the "Service"), the mobile application operated by the Company, and define the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of each party.
2. Nature of the Service
- The Service is a digital detox aid that restricts the use of selected apps on the user's phone for a duration the user voluntarily starts.
- The Service is not a medical device or mental health treatment tool, and may not be used for diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of any condition.
- All lock challenges are started and ended by the user directly. We cannot remotely enforce or release a lock.
- The Service can be used without signing in. If you sign in with Google, some data can be backed up to Supabase and subscription benefits can be linked to your account.
- The Service may show in-app ads to free users. Ads may be hidden when an ad-free benefit, such as a Buddy Plus subscription, applies.
3. Account and Data Backup
- Google sign-in is optional. If you do not sign in, your data is generally stored only on your device.
- If you use the Service while signed in or agree to back up local data, app data such as nickname, BM, owned items, lock history, notes, and stats may be backed up to your account.
- You may sign out or request account deletion from Settings. Signing out only disconnects the account session; account deletion starts the account and backed-up-data deletion process.
- When switching accounts, the Service displays data based on the currently signed-in account. Nicknames and subscription status may differ by account.
4. Paid Subscriptions and Benefits
- We may offer monthly or yearly Buddy Plus subscriptions through Google Play Billing.
- Buddy Plus benefits may include ad removal, expanded allowed-app limits, selected app lock, app-specific usage limit rules, strict mode, AI insights and recommendations, unlimited buddy changes, a one-time 3000 BM grant, and other benefits shown in the app.
- Specific benefits, delivery methods, and availability may change based on app updates and operating policy.
- Subscription payment, billing, taxes, and payment methods are handled under Google Play policies and the payment method selected by the user.
- To provide subscription benefits reliably, your Google sign-in account may be linked with subscription-verification data such as purchase token, product ID, subscription status, and entitlement expiry time.
- The app may first apply subscription entitlement stored in Supabase and then verify the status in the background through the Google Play Developer API when needed.
- Subscription confirmation may take time immediately after purchase depending on Google Play or network status. You may use Restore Subscription to request another status check.
5. AI Features
- If you separately consent, the Service may provide AI stats summaries, weekly digital detox feedback, activity recommendations for the next lock, and memo-based personalized suggestions.
- AI features generate supportive recommendations using app usage data such as lock records, stats, notes, lock duration, and virtual distance.
- AI outputs are supportive information for focus and digital detox. They are not medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
- AI model, feature scope, generation quality, and available usage may change or be limited depending on operations, cost, and external API availability.
6. App Lock and Usage Limit Features
- The Service may help show a lock screen when selected apps are opened, or restrict use based on app-specific usage-time or time-of-day rules configured by the user.
- Selected app lock, app-specific usage limits, and strict mode operate based on permissions granted by the user, such as Android usage access, draw over other apps, notifications, and foreground service permissions.
- Strict mode may detect permission removal, force-stopping, or other bypass attempts and strengthen failure handling or records, but it does not guarantee complete prevention of every bypass under operating-system policies.
- Depending on device manufacturer, Android version, battery settings, permission state, and network conditions, lock detection or notifications may be delayed or limited.
7. Subscription Cancellation, Restoration, and Refunds
- You may cancel automatic renewal at any time through Google Play's subscription management screen.
- The in-app Manage Subscription button may link to Google Play's subscription management screen.
- Restore Subscription checks purchase information stored by Google Play and our server to reapply Buddy Plus entitlement to the current account.
- Subscription cancellation or account deletion does not automatically issue a refund. Refunds are handled separately through Google Play's refund process or our customer-support review.
- If a refund is approved, related subscription benefits, rewards, or unused entitlements may be revoked or terminated.
8. Account Deletion and Data Deletion
- You may request account deletion through the account deletion feature in Settings or by emailing us.
- When account deletion is completed, account information, backed-up data, BM, owned items, lock records, notes, stats, AI consent and usage records, and subscription-benefit records stored in Supabase are deleted, and the app also clears on-device data.
- Deleted data cannot be restored. If you sign up again after deletion, previous BM, items, stats, and reward records will not be restored.
- Minimum records related to payment, disputes, abuse prevention, and security audits may be retained for the period required under applicable law.
9. User Responsibilities
- The user uses the Service at their own discretion and responsibility.
- The user may end any lock challenge immediately ("Give Up" button), and emergency calls remain available at all times during a lock.
- The user is responsible for relying on means other than this Service for emergency situations as needed.
10. Limitation of Liability
- We are not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from missed calls, messages, or notifications during the use of the Service.
- We are not liable for service interruptions or errors caused by force majeure, system failures, Android policy changes, Google Play or external API failures, or other causes beyond our reasonable control.
- The Service is provided "AS-IS" without warranty of fitness for any particular purpose.
11. Intellectual Property
All character designs, logos, UI, and code included in the Service are owned by us. The user may use the Service only for personal, non-commercial purposes.
12. Service Modifications
- We may modify or discontinue all or part of the Service. Material changes will be announced in advance.
- Features currently provided free of charge may become paid in future updates.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when needed. Updates take effect 7 days after notice, or 30 days for changes adverse to users, via in-app notice or this page. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes shall be resolved in the court of competent jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
